I am a fifty something Native American mother of three and grandmother of 4. I have had a long and treacherous journey to get to this point in my life and have decided that I am going to totally pull back and focus completely on me and what makes me happy and raises my passion. I have the pleasure of making my home on the Coeur d’Alene Indian Reservation located in beautiful North Idaho and spend my time with Grandchildren and creating my art and enjoying my life. How do you prepare the birch bark so that it lays flat? Ive been soaking mine for a few days then I'm gonna clamp it. Idk what else to do
@@LeoPeet-Kennedy-z9v I soak it, clean it and place something heavy on it let it dry. Soak it in water before using it

I had trouble doing this your viewing was poor and when I tried to enlarge it it was to blurry and your hand was always in the way your work is beautiful but the instructions and illustration is very poor for us beginners.

What are the measurements for the top of the moccasin vs the bottom of the moccasin???
I was thinking of a birch bark jewelry project. Then I found this video. It was inspiring. I have a question. Why did you attach a cardboard piece between the bark and the leather?
To help straighten the piece and provide flat stability as I do to all my beadwork

I am trying to sew my baby moccasins together. My needles keep breaking. Please recommend the size to get to sew with. Thank you
Also, do I need to sew in the soul strap? If I am having so much trouble with the needles breaking can I just leave it out?
I use my beading needle but I don’t have thick leather. You might try a size 10 or 12 glovers needle. Yes you can leave out the strip.

How do I measure out the top of the moccasin to make sure ilthe size is correct?
Measure across the top of the foot over the arch of the foot.
